I was worried about this place that my sister picked for a friend's birthday dinner when I went in on a Friday night at 6 p.m. and they only had two tables full of people. But within half-an-hour most of the restaurants was full and our food that was tasty hot and spicy we're spread out on the table. We ordered dumplings, lamb, beef, and a noodle dish. Everything was hot, cooked well and spicy. The restaurant was very basic in in that they still have the plastic white table cloths. So don't expect anything fancy but the food is down-to-earth good.

This was a very mediocre experience overall. I came on Saturday around mid-morning, and the restaurant was half full. As we were a party of 2, we were seated and given menus promptly. To order, we wrote down what we wanted on provided slips of paper. We ordered saliva chicken, pan fried bao, braised beef noodle soup, and Dan Dan noodles.

The good: the braised beef noodle soup had noodles that were obviously freshly made by hand. The noodles were thick and chewy, and the soup was rich and flavorful without being too salty.

The mediocre: saliva chicken was underseasoned and needed 75% more sauce, 25% more salt, and 200% more chili. Contrary to what the name implies, it did not make me salivate. Not. One. Bit.
The dandan noodles were also disappointing. I was expecting a noodle with less soup and a lot of chili oil, but this was less spicy than a junior chicken from McDonald's. Again, more salt would have brought out some of its flavors.
The final disappointment were the pan fried bao. It bears the same name as the soupy, crispy, Shanghainese breakfast food, but it was anything but satisfying for my nostalgia. Instead of thin-skinned, soupy buns, I got thick, fluffy buns. They were alright in flavor, but the name was super misleading.

The bad: the tea tasted awful. Maybe the teapot was freshly washed, or the water was meant to clean pots. Either way, it tasted like detergent. For my own health, I had to ask for ice water.

While the food and service didn't kill me, I probably wouldn't come back. There are better options in the area.

We went there for a quick lunch and the service is good.  The food is okay and the price is reasonable.  ** It is quite difficult to find a parking space during lunch hour in this plaza. **

You have been warned: Eat at this restaurant only if you have time to spare!
It's a very mom-and-pop shop, run by a small family. We arrived at 12:00pm, ordered, and were unable to leave the restaurant until roughly 1:30pm. That being said, we found the quality of the food to be quite decent.

We ordered one of their lunch sets - xiaolong bao with millet congee. The set came with a side of pickled potatoes and a tea egg. The potatoes were slightly spicy and quite addicting, but the millet congee fell flat in flavour. The xiaolong bao were all right, but I found the wrapping to be slightly thick.

We also ordered a lamb soup with pita bread. The soup was very delicious, but the pita tasted slightly stale. I'm not entirely sure if it is supposed to be like this, but it came very hard and took a while to soften up in the soup. The process may have been quickened if the broth was hotter, but alas...

Finally, we finished our meal with steamed lamb dumplings. Again, the wrapping was a bit thick, but the lamb dumplings were so meaty and juicy! It was very yummy and I would probably order this again... If it didn't take over an hour for it to arrive.

Tldr; good food, but takes a long time.

I picked up my boyfriend from Pearson and decided that eating within the area would probably be better than to try to brave the traffic back downtown. So we ended up in the plaza of where this place was located and just randomly picked a place to try. This restaurant features Northern Chinese food. Overall, I would say the food was average and the pricing of their menu is on par to other restaurants of this style of Chinese food.
